Les chiffres du Spa en FranceWHILE THE SPA INDUSTRY SEEMS TO BE SLOWING DOWN IN THE UNITED STATES (DECREASING SPA INCOME, MANY CLOSING DOWN) THE FRENCH HOTEL SPA SECTOR HAS BEEN SPARED BY THE ECONOMIC RECESSION SO FAR.
DESPITE A DECLINE IN THE NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS IN FRENCH HOTELS, MOST SPAS HAVE INCREASED THEIR TURNOVER. CONSISTENT EFFORTS TO ATTRACT EXTERNAL CUSTOMERS AND NEIGHBOURING RESIDENTS WITHIN AN INCREASINGLY LARGER RADIUS SEEM TO HAVE SUCCEEDED IN COMPENSATING FOR A DECREASING NUMBER OF HOTEL CUSTOMERS.
ACTUALLY, IN THIS CONTEXT, AVERAGE PRICES HAVE GONE DOWN WHILE THE NUMBER OF CLIENTS, AND HENCE CABIN OCCUPANCY RATES, HAS PROGRESSED. 

THE NEW 5-STAR HOTELS’ SPA OFFERS

As the new Hotel classification system has taken effect, we expect a modification of the French Hotel landscape.  The special dispensation which gives access to a fifth star gives a hint as to what it will look like. So far, 94 Hotels have already been upgraded to a 5th star ranking, including InterContinental, Marriott and Renaissance, Park Hyatt, Barrière and Four Seasons establishments.  The majority of them are nevertheless Hotels which are members of prestigious luxury hospitality organizations such as Relais & Chateaux, The Leading Hotels of the World and Small Luxury Hotels.
