Spa according to Benoît CREUS, Chairman & Managing Director of Verre et Quartz
Isabelle Charrier

Several years ago, when we started equipping the "SPAS", I thought that in medium term we would help in clarifying the words that are used. At that time, it was essentially a matter of distinguishing between the SPA, bubble pool, Centre visited by a clientele in search of "Sanitas Per Aqua"…

Instead of elaborating the concept, the years that followed saw an increase in the number of projects that used the term "Spa" to define themselves according to their own criteria: day-Spa, destination-Spa, medi-Spa, Hotel Spa, adventure Spa and many others...
Today, all cosmetic brands refer to "Spa" while naming their products or techniques and there is no single day that passes when I do not meet someone who tells me that he had heard someone talk about a Voyage Spa, a Hotel Spa, a Stay Spa, a Spa fair…
Hence, when someone asks me what I think about the development of Spa or equipments that are most suited, it is difficult for me to have a very clear point of view, as it may be disappointing for my interlocutors…

"Regardless of the project, there is always just one goal;
provide the client with an escape, an atmosphere that will make his arrival to the Spa a real experience"

At the same time, VERRE & QUARTZ, which also intervenes in the designing of several Spa centres with different objectives, is also specialised in the construction of humid areas that one can call "Hammams".  However, it is worth remembering that the word "Hammam" does not have the same meaning in Morocco, where it refers to a succession of rooms with different temperatures, as in France, where it is used to define a steam bath, or in some other country according to the cultural criteria.
Moreover, a "Hammam" will be designed in completely different manners depending on the fact whether it is meant for personal or professional use. And here we are not talking about Laconiums, Tepidariums and other Caldariums that are also blithely grouped under the name "Hammam". Hence, when someone asks me how we design a "Hammam" in a "Spa", it is necessary for me to take some distance in order to understand the desires of my interlocutor well and provide him the right information. In the course of discussion, often we observe that regardless of the project, the ultimate aim is always the same: provide the clientele with an escape, a treatment, an ambience, an atmosphere that will make his trip to Spa a real experience and will constitute a real discovery.

This is the starting point of real work for the professional who can propose quality equipments that will guarantee the success of the project after analysing the needs, thanks to his experience and according to the partners desired by the client (architects, partners in cosmetics, consultants…).  These equipments are often innovative. It is in this spirit that VERRE & QUARTZ has cultivated and developed an experience and a know-how of ambiences where parameters can be modified so as to facilitate the discovery of new sensations and where the constructions, technical functions take into account the personality of the operators, the country where the Spa will be located and all the themes that can justify the realisation of the project (association of ambiences with seasons, colours, musical themes, cuisine...) in such a manner that "SPA" will be diversified without limits (or almost…). Moreover, as such a set-up, which is based on a passion, requires a daily inversion, we do not anticipate that our installations can be set-up and maintained by inexperienced teams and have, therefore, created a subsidiary with this sole objective.

In fact, we think that in this "all-round" development, the Spas that are designed and created by professionals who have a real international and multicultural experience will mark their differences and advantages.
