To step into the 21st century, the Majestic Barrière has undergone a transformation.  In order to do so, 80 million euros were invested in the renovation and extension of this jewel of the group.  It took more than two years to construct the 7 floors of the new building, a perfect reflection of the existing wing, and, of course, a Spa of 450m2, managed by Star Wellness and  conceived by the architect, Pascal DSesprez. as brand partners, this luxury hotel chose Sisley, but you also find there several original signature treatments conceived by valerie

E.C: you know, you find in the very name of our Spa, U SPA Barrière, the resolve to differentiate ourselves, to stamp it with an exceptional character. The “U” thus serves to project the ‘‘Unique’’ character of our wellbeing space, and the experiences it offers.  The opportunity that we have, which also allows us to propose something a bit different is, firstly, the location of the Hotel, facing the Mediterranean.  Our Spa offers our guests an exceptional view of the sea, the pool and the gardens of the Majestic Barrière. We are at the heart of the city, on the Croisette and opposite the Palais des Festivals, yet the Spa is a real haven of peace, protected from the tumult of Cannes, thanks to its green spaces. The gyms, for example, offer a view that gives meaning to the word “tranquillity”. We also offer innovative equipment that will certainly please our clientele: from the Hammam with its starry dome, the sauna lit up with chromo-therapy lights, to the “Water Paradise” concept which combines, for an intensely relaxing experience, a shower with multi-sensory stimuli: ambiances created with sound and light, perfumes, variations in temperature and water pressure. And lastly, the partnership with Sisley that enables us to offer products of exceptional quality, which is an enormous advantage.

Majestic Barrière CannesWhy did you choose only a single brand for your Spa, and why Sisley?
E.C: the partnership with Sisley seemed so evident! Firstly, Sisley has much in common with the Groupe Lucien Barrière: This is a family business, based in France but which has an international reputation.  Sisley is a brand very well known in Russia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and it happens that these regions are where we find many of the Majestic Barrière’s regulars. It is, on the other hand, the world of luxury that brings us closer: We share a common and constant aspiration for quality and excellence.  And most importantly, it is their expertise, widely recognized, that persuaded us to choose them for the Spa, which we wanted to be the best possible.  If we chose to give Sisley the exclusivity for the treatments in the U-Spa Barrière, it is because it is a brand that offers a complete collection of anti-age treatments of very high quality. It was therefore unnecessary to offer other brands.   

Why entrust the management of your Spa to a company rather than managing it directly?
E.C: we chose to entrust the management of U SPA Barrière to Star Wellness because we wanted to guarantee optimal service to our clientele. For even though today the wellbeing business requires a knowledge of hospitality, service and experience of the sensory services, it demands, above all, a technical knowledge, increasingly therapeutic, that does not pertain to the basic Hotel metiers.  Star Wellness manages several Spas, they dispose of staff but also specialists in all the disciplines, which ensure us of consistence and variety.  

Lastly, what is your vision of the Spa in a luxury Hotel? 
E.C: the luxury Hotel for me is a way of letting our guests live an exceptional ‘‘experience’’. Luxury is an experience to be shared with our customers. Also, the notion of wellbeing has become an important factor in luxury Hotels. A luxury Hotel has to be a haven of peace. Today the Spa is a key element for achieving and exceeding this target.
